A Steady and Mature Inning
South Bay 127 for 10 in 29.1
Eagles 129 for 4 in 18.5
South Bay won the toss and elected to bat. They started well with boundaries and had 19 runs on the board before the fall of the first wicket. The second wicket fell at 21 and then there was a mini rally the fall of the third wicket when the score was 43. After the fall of the sixth wicket at 73 runs the Captain Irfan, put on a good partnership Abishek which yielded 46 runs to help post a decent total. The remaining three wickets could only add eight runs to the final total of 127. For Eagles, Surendra posted figures of 5-0-2-23, Paul 6-1-2-27, Mohinder 4-1-1-9, Krishna 6-1-0-14, Brandon 5-0-1-26 and Ken 5-0-4-22. The bowling and fielding of Eagles was tight.
In responding to South Bay, Eagles started slowly and lost two wickets after only posting 13 runs. There was a brief recovery with a partnership of 21 between Brandon and Joe before the loss of the third wicket at 34. Brandon and krishna then consolidated the inning while scoring 49 runs before the loss of the fourth and final wicket at 93. Brandon played a mature inning while scoring an unbeaten 43 and saw Eagles home with support from Ken.
Eagles played well as a team and exhibited patience and supported each other well. This was a well played game and Eagles first win this season. Best wishes to South Bay.
BritDom notch up first win
San Diego 3 249 for 9 in 40.0
British & Dominion 250 for 7 in 38.5
BritDom chased a total of 249 and comfortably completed the task with wickets to spare.
San Diego won the toss and unsurprisingly decided to bat first. With a hard track and hot conditions, they managed toe score 249 for 9. Pick of the batsmen were Raja and Nishanth, who both reached the 40's.
Grant and Rocky both bowled very well, with not much success for their toil.
BritDom responded well with their innings, always picking up the required over run rate. Dave Collicutt, who ended with 93, shared two great partnerships with Grant and Carl, which comfortably brought BritDom to the set total of 250. Grant and Carl reached 37 and 47 respectively.
San Diego played a very good game, but probably didn't help their cause by bowling 42 wides. Good luck for rest of season
Vijayta registered first win of the season.
Vijayta 155 for 10 in 36.1
Pegasus 157 for 5 in 32.4

Vijayta continue winning streak
Vijayta 212 for 10 in 44.3
Pasadena 1 145 for 10 in 36.3
A chilli day in the middle of April was not a suitable condition for cricket but game was played with good spirits between both the teams. Vijayta managed to post a mere total of 212 however was too much for Pasadena to chase it down. Hammad and Zain continued their disciplined bowling getting the top order out but the pick of the day was young Mrunal Patel who took 5 wicket to help Vijayta earn their second victory of the season.
Vijayta register third victory of the season

Friends succumb to Westwood's heat
Westwood Cricket Club 176 for 9 in 40.0
Friends 103 for 10 in 24.3
On a hot day, where temperatures touched three digits, and most of the scoring was supposed to be done by running between wickets, thanks to lush green outfield, Westwood won the toss and did not hesitate to bat first.
After steady start and with some middle order bolstering, Westwood managed a decent total of 176/9 in their allocated 40 overs.
Friends started disastrously losing wickets at regular intervals, and had half of their squad back in the hut, by first drinks break.
The second break was never needed, as they bundled out for 103 in just over 24 overs. Saurabh Alurkar was the pick of bowlers claiming 4 wickets, while Captain Raj helped himself to three catches after dropping one.
Good luck Friends on your remaining season.

Good bowling by Pacifica to restrict Deccan for 109 runs. None of Deccan's batsman were able to score expect opener Nadun. Pacifica's reply started in a disaster with Harish being run out on 3rd over of the innings. Gagan, captain of Pacifica and Ravi rebuilt the innings but fall of Gagan's wicket triggered another collapse. Mirza played a composed and effective innings mixed with some big shots to take Pacifica home.

Match Report
United Cricket Club 175 for 9 in 45.0
San Diego 2 122 for 10 in 32.2
San Diego 2 started their season against United at home on a gloomy day with wind blowing like crazy. San Diego 2 had a game plan in mind if luck favored them. If SD2 wins the toss, go and bowl, and get the opponents out under 150 runs and put pressure on the United bowlers. Luck did not favor SD2 and Sandeep (for a change) lost the toss. United put SD2 to bat on a day where the ball would swing, given the conditions of the ground.
Vishal along with Azhar went on to bat and it was so obvious Vishal was struggling to connect the ball to bat, trying to negate the swing. Azhar started very positively and he was in no pressure negating the swing. First 3 overs yielded only 4 runs for SD2. Vishal got a full pitch delivery, which he hit straight drive for a boundary and there was no seeing back for Vishal. Azhar and Vishal batted very sensibly rotating the strike and keeping the scoreboard ticking. After 10 overs, SD2 were 46/0. Azhar and Vishal negated the swing and the awkward bounce to see the new ball through. At the first break (17 overs), SD2 were 77/0. That’s where SD2 batsmen lost it. Azhar was the first one to go – inside edging to the stumps for a well made 27. Vishal was next to go inside edging to the keeper for 38. Qazi got run out trying hard for a second run. Qazi don’t worry – there were 2 runs in that shot but the ground was so slow the ball stopped. Brush it off. You are looking good in the batting department. Sanjit and Kumar had a small little partnership going when they both were adjudged lbw’s (110-5). Ramesh got out bowled trying to cut a ball, which kept reasonably low. Sandeep got out trying to clear the infield at mid off. Catch was well judged and suddenly SD2 were 122-7. Ameya got out bowled trying to play a slog shot, which was very much uncalled for (123-8 in 35.2 overs). Mangesh and Hasitha were at the crease and the only thing SD2 had in mind was to play the 45 overs. They did not disappoint. Both batted beautifully, rotated the strike, and kept the scoreboard ticking. They added 52 in 9.4 overs to boost SD2 total to 175-9 in 45 overs. Mangesh got run out on the last ball of the 45th over trying for the second run.
SD2 defending 176 runs on their home ground was not easy. Looking at the conditions, SD2 had a good chance to defend it (if they did not give away extras). Vishal and Sandeep started the innings and bowled a good line and length and it was Sandeep who gave SD2 their first breakthrough. He got the ball to bounce an extra bit, which took the gloves of the batsman, straight to gully where Sanjit happily accepted the catch. Vishal complimented Sandeep by getting the ball to nip back at the batsman to get his stumps rattled (21-2). Both the bowlers gave a perfect start to SD2 innings (32/2 in 10 overs). Mangesh replaced Sandeep and Pradeep replaced Vishal. Mangesh flighted the ball beautifully and beat United batsmen on more than couple of occasions. Pradeep beat the bat consistently to put the pressure. Mangesh got the 3rd wicket when he flighted the ball to beat the bat and got a plumb lbw. Pradeep complimented Mangesh by bowling a furious off cutter to see the bails flying all over (45-4 in 13 overs). Before the break, Sandeep introduced Hasitha. Hasitha bowled the first ball of this season as a short, spinning, wide, which the batsman decided to pull just to see Vishal flying to his left at short mid-wicket to take a stunner. That was the first break. SD2 were very much into the game with having United 56-5 in 16.1 overs. As soon as the innings started, Sandeep removed Hasitha and got back Pradeep to get a breakthrough, which paid off when Pradeep got his 2nd wicket (81/6 in 21). Hasitha then came back into the attack and he bowled beautifully to get 2 of United’s batsmen lbw’s (108-8 in 28 overs). Amit for United took his chances and he scored 40. Credit goes to him for the fighting spirit he showed for his team. Sandeep decided to go for the kill getting Vishal back into the bowling attack replacing Pradeep. Vishal was pretty unlucky to not get a wicket. So the move did not work either. Hasitha got the 9th wicket (his 4th) by bowling the doosraa (the wrong ‘un), which rattled the stumps and United were 122-9 in 32 overs. Sandeep replaced Vishal and the match was over on his second ball when Amit decided to hit him out of the park, just to see Pradeep holding on to a well judged catch at widish long on. SD2 came out victorious in their first game of the season. Special mention to Jitu who came in as 12th man and was there on the field for the whole day. Thanks to Ram and Anil to show up at the ground to cheer up the team.

Match Report
San Diego 2 223 for 9 in 45.0
University 105 for 10 in 23.0
San Diego 2 started their season at Woodley against University at Woodley on a very hot day with no signs of any wind. The team decided to bat first IF Sandeep wins the toss. Luck did favor SD2 this time and SD2 decided to bat.
Vishal along with Azhar went on to bat on a flat track. The new ball was swinging and bouncing. Vishal and Azhar took time to settle down and started ticking the singles along. Azhar was the first one to go when he flicked the ball straight to square leg. Soon Vishal got run out, as he did not pay enough attention on the ball. It was a pure case of careless dismissal. Suddenly score was 25/2. Qazi yorked himself and got bowled. Then Kumar was brilliantly caught at short midwicket (47/4 in 10 overs). The fielder dived full length in front of him to take the catch inches off the ground. Kudos to him! Jitu and Ramesh Badri had a small partnership going and the score reached 61/4 in 14 overs when Jitu was adjudged lbw. Sandeep went in and before he could set himself, he was given lbw for a ball that pitched outside the line of the stumps on the leg. Ameya also could not apply himself and he edged to first slip that took a good catch low on this left. Suddenly SD2 were reeling at 67/7 in 18 overs. Hasitha went in and joined Ramesh at the crease. Slowly and steadily SD2 started progressing. Both the batsmen started rotating the strike. Ramesh controlled his instincts to play the big shots, as the situation did not demand that. He succeeded in doing that. Hasitha was more attacking after 10 overs and SD2 scorecard read 143/7 in 34 overs. Ramesh completed his well-deserved, patient 50 with a single towards covers. Given the conditions, Ramesh played a brilliant knock. Hasitha decided to cut loose and hit a couple of boundaries before he skied one straight up and got out for a well deserving 37 (150/8 in 36 overs). Pradeep went in next as only 9 overs were left. Pradeep started off positively taking singles, and converting singles into two’s. Ramesh ran very hard between the wickets after 40 overs, given the fact he was batting there for more than 30 overs. Last 5 overs yielded around 53 runs for SD2 with Pradeep being the dominant scorer of the two. He hit a marvelous unbeaten 40 off 28 balls to pump up the score to 223/9 in 45 overs. Ramesh remained unbeaten on 76 very useful runs. Again SD2 batsman (Ramesh) and the tail-enders showed a strong character.
Scoring 225 runs on Woodley was not easy. Looking at the conditions, SD2 had a good chance to defend it. Vishal and Sandeep started the innings and bowled a good line and length and it was Vishal who gave SD2 their first breakthrough in the first over. He got the ball full and swinging to get the batsman’s middle stump. Sandeep complimented Vishal by giving a low full toss just to see a great catch on his follow-through. He dived full length in front of him and took the catch one-handed leaving University 14/2 (2 overs). Vishal got the 3rd one with a slow full leg cutter. He got the batsman play a little early and had him plumb in front of the wicket. Pradeep replaced Sandeep and he bowled a beautiful line and length cutting the ball both ways. Sandeep came in for a 2 over second spell to try and get a wicket. He did get us a breakthrough. Sandeep got the 4th wicket when Pradeep took a well-judged catch running sideways at mid-off(59/4 in 15 overs). In the next over, Pradeep got one to move away from the left hander to see Vishal take a good catch at second slip (63/5 in 16). After a few overs, Hasitha came into bowl replacing Sandeep. Hasitha started slow in his bowling. Once he got his rhythm, he turned the ball away from the right handers and troubled them a lot. In the meanwhile, University had a nice partnership going to reach 103/5 in 22 overs.
Hasitha’s 4th over created a tornado in University’s camp. He took 4 wickets in 1 over and the game was all over (one of their batsmen didn’t bat due to injury). His second ball saw Azhar do a smart stumping. His 4th ball was a dolly flighted full toss, which the batsman got totally confused about, and it hit him plumb in front of the wicket. His 5th ball was a slow turner where the batsman played away from his body to give a simple catch at short cover where Qazi gladly accepted it. His 6th ball was a ripper. He generated good amount of pace and bounce just to see the batsman get totally confused about. All he did was try to save his face. In the process he gloved it at short leg where Ramesh took an easy catch. So in short, HASITHA GOT A HATRICK! 105 all out in 23 overs, game over.
University got all out for 105 and SD2 beat them comprehensively by 118 runs.

Zain gets a hatrick!
Hollywood 1 260 for 9 in 45.0
Vijayta 228 for 10 in 40.5
Vijayta won the toss and elected to field first. Hollywood 1 openers Thilan and Divyesh provided a decent start till Thilan went for a big one and got caught. The first wicket fell at the score of 23 then Divyesh got out on the next ball from Zain. It was a hatrick ball for Zain after claiming wickets of Thilan and Divyesh, Mandip tried to sweep the hatrick ball and got bowled. Zain claimed the hatrick. Hollywood was struggling at the score of 23 for 3 , the things became more worse when Aditya, Nikhil and Ritesh got out cheaply to Hammad and were struggling for 50 for 6 at first drinks break. Ankit and Basit got together and played cautiously with a plan to play out as many overs as possible without losing any further wickets. The plan worked and runs started coming once the bowlers became frustrated. Ankit and Basit put on 90 plus partnership when Ankit got out. At this stage, Hollywood was 150 for 7, the debutant Rishabh Nanda walked in to join Basit who started hitting the ball very well. Rishabh and Basit went onto assault the Vijayta's bowling and put on a great show by putting 66 runs partnership in no time. Hollywood was now in good shape at 213 for 8 in 41 overs. Basit played well and scored 80 in 86 balls. Rishabh didn't stopped his assault on Vijayta bowlers and was smacking at will and helped reach Hollywood to a respectable total of 260. Rishabh stayed unbeaten on 69 in 30 balls.
In reply, Vijayta started well and put on 100 runs but lost 4 wickets in doing so in 14 overs thanks to Tarun's quickfire 52 in 32 balls. Mehul Dave and Mrunal Patel were steadying the innings when Mehul gave away his wicket trying to play some extra shots and got out on 61. Vijayta's hope was depleted with Mehuls' wicket and they were 160 for 5 in 26 overs. It was upto Mrunal and rest of the tail to get those another 100 runs. However, defiant hollywood bowlers didn't took any breather and wrapped Vijayta's innings for 228 runs. Pick of bowlers for Hollywood were Anup Desai with 3 wickets, Basit,Aditya,& Nikhil sharing 2 wickets each.
Hollywood won by 32 runs and it was a hard fought win. Good Luck to Vijayta for the rest of the season.
Match Report
San Diego 1 301 for 10 in 44.0
Cosmos 160 for 10 in 29.3
After registering an impressive victory against the Colts, SD1 was ready for an important clash against Cosmos Cricket Club. 3 changes were made to the team from the 1 that played against the Colts. Joe, Ibrahim and Benny replaced Ganga, Afroze and Hrishi. Ananth was leading the side in the absence of Afroze.
Ananth got off to a good start as the skipper by winning the toss and electing to bat on what looked like a fairly flat track. However it seemed like the decision backfired when SD1 were down 5 with just 90 on the board. Gaurav got bowled by a peach of a delivery from Hopton which pitched on middle and leg and swung late to take the off stump along with it. Joe started positively but played one shot too many and got out LBW to a delivery which came in to him. Ananth walked in at a time when the opponents were grinning to be at the top. He put away the first ball he faced from their strike bowler (Hopton) over the fence for a six to command a confident start .Rahil and Ananth consolidated for sometime without impacting the scoring rate. Rahil was looking quite impressive with a couple of his pull shots and some nudges for singles before miscuing a pull shot and giving a simple catch to square leg. Brij came and left as quickly after being trapped LBW by delivery which shaped into him. Shawn followed him and played some really impressive shots before his patience got the better of him and was out LBW while playing across. All this while Ananth stood his ground and played some really impressive shots to keep the scoreboard ticking.
Thereafter Ananth and Hafiz joined forces and consolidated the inning with some intelligent batting. They kept the scoreboard ticking without taking any unnecessary chances. Soon Ananth reached his 50, his 2nd in as many games this season. Cosmos skipper introduced their strike bowler Hopton to break this threatening partnership and the move paid off when Ananth played a full toss straight back to the bowler which was well caught on his follow through.
At this stage SD1 still had more than 15 over to play because of which the skipper decided to send Rubal up the order in order to play some time and hold back the strokemakers Benny and Ibrahim back for the last 10 overs. The move paid back really well as Rubal and Hafiz consolidated the inning while keeping the scorecard ticking. Hafiz was out to a dubious LBW decision after making a useful contribution and then Rubal fell while trying to accelerate the scoring.
The fall of 2 wickets in quick succession got Benny and Ibrahim to the crease. Cosmos sensed an opening and decided to attack and bowl SD1 out. Much to their surprise both Benny and Ibrahim counter attacked effectively attacked which force them reverse their tactics. However this did not deter Ibrahim and Benny and both continued to play their shots and clear the field with relative ease. Ibrahim was out bowled while trying to score fast but not before he had played a very useful cameo. Vatsan the last man in stood in there supporting Benny. Benny played some outrageous shots, the 2 huge sixes off one over from Hopton stood out. It was one of the most brilliant exhibitions of hitting. He reached a well deserved victory and helped SD1 post a huge score of 301.
Benny and Ibrahim stole the show at the end but that might not have been possible without the foundation setup by Ananth, Hafiz and Rubal.
Cosmos faced an uphill struggle which became all the more difficult because of the brilliant opening spell from Rubal. He was unclucky not to have more than 1 wicket after beating the bat so consistently. Vatsan at the other end struggled to get into his usual rhythm, Abhishek Powar specifically played him well. Hafiz provided the 1st breakthrough when he had Abhishek playing a lofted shot to sqaure leg, he was deceived by the late swing. Rubal then got Hopeton out trying to avoid a very well directed bouncer. With two wickets down Brij came into bowl the last over before the drink’s break and the very first ball he bowled a beauty of a delivery which fell short of good length and the batsman spooned it back to him. In the same over he bagged another wicket and continued to bowl brilliantly. Thereafter the asking run rate kept going up and all the bowlers had to do was bowl on the stumps. Wickets kept falling at regular intervals with Hafiz taking 3 in all, Brij taking 4, Benny rounding his brilliant day in the field with 2 and Gaurav the official game finisher for SD1 took his customary last wicket.
Cosmos was out for a meager 160 with Abhishek and Amar making some mentionable contributions. However their fate was sealed long back when Benny and Ibramin joined forces with the bat.

Regal 105 for 10 in 28.5
British & Dominion 106 for 6 in 28.0
The game was reduced to 35 overs due to mechanical problems ie. broken lawnmower. The mat was placed over quite heavy turf and so gave the playing surface somewhat of a inconsistency.
BritDom won the toss and quite understandably decided to bowl first. With some good tight bowling and help from wicket, BritDom had the home team on the back foot.No real partnership was allowed to happen and Regal eventually succumbed to 105 all-out. The only batsman who showed any resistance were Aftab and Deval.
The BritDom bowlers were Grant 1-23,Jimmy 2-27, Rocky 3-33, Randeep 1-15, Carl 3-2, Shridhar 0-3.
BritDoms' response was straight away pushed to max. Losing 2 wickets in the first over had the visiting team reeling. Good bowling and use of the wicket had BritDom struggling at 41 for 5.
But a steady 6th wicket partnership of 63 from Jimmy and Randeep settled things and brought the ship home with overs to spare.Regal bowled a good innings, but could of done with a few more runs to defend. Good luck to Regal with their search of a first win.
Thanks to the umpires for officiating well.
United Cricket Club 276 for 7 in 45.0
Victoria Cricket Club 116 for in 32.3
The wicket was wet and slow. Victoria won the toss and put United to bat. And I don’t think they did a wrong call, we just played really good. With Anush and Ashwani opening, the game started slow and watchful. And before Ashwani could start he was given LBW on the front foot for the ball swing down the leg. Then came Raja. He played very sensibly and at one point was slower than Anush. Then there was mis-understanding on running between the wickets. Anush was runout. The flow of shots came from Raja and before we knew, he was on his 50 with good support from Hemanth. Hemanth was out trying to push for a single just before the drink interval at 92. Srini joined Raja and were going at a rate of 9+ runs a over, when Raja mistimed a shot to extra cover. Ramanan joined Srini and was in the groove from ball one. He hit some daring sixes and we were past 150 in 23rd over. When Srini got out, Shankar came in to support Ramanan and took the score to 195 when he got out to an easy ball trying keeping it down. Ramanan crossed 50 with support from Sundar and was out trying to clear for another 6. Sundar and Satya put on another 46 runs in just 6 overs. We scored 276 for 7 in 45 overs.
United bowling was started by Hari and Ramanan. They cleared the top 6 batsmen for a total of 17 runs in first 6 overs with Ramanan taking 5 for 31 overall. We did ok with our fielding and catches. Only we took next 26 overs to wrap the tail orders (Last 4 wickets).
The man of the match for United goes to Ramanan and a great contribution from Rajamani with the bat.

Deccan wins with team effort
Deccan 134 for 10 in 33.0
Eagles 118 for 9 in 33.5
Deccan elected to bat first taking advantage of Eagle's 9 player squad. The decision was not backed by the top-order batsman and a rescue effort was at show by the Captain and Vice-Captain. Some decent stroke-play from middle order batsman gave Deccan a competitive target on a tricky wicket. Eagles were no where in the hunt and Deccan applied the pressure efficiently as the opening bowlers took 5 wickets for 30-odd runs. The middle order partnership was batting with immense experience and Deccan were seen wanting in the field. The frustration of not running through the Eagles batting line-up was clear. Deccan gave away many free-bees and dropped a couple of catches as well. An unlikely hero emerged to wipe up the tail and that sealed the deal. Deccan registers their first victory of the season.
International 188 for 10 in 43.2
Pegasus 189 for in 42.4
Pegasus sail past International
The 2008 season kick off weekend had all the top teams in Division 1 in action. Pegasus CC played an under strength International CC on overcast Saturday morning. With the weather conditions and a green top wicket, the team winning the toss should have opted to bowl. However, International chose to bat due to a shortage of players at starting time.
International began cautiously as the Pegasus big boys Elmore Hutchinson and Hasan Imam tried to get some early breakthroughs. Elmore coming after a 6 month break bowled with ferocity and managed to pick up 2 wickets before leaving the field due to injury. Hasan Imam was penetrative and unlucky as edges flew past fielders. Suresh Nair was his accurate self putting a choke hold on the runs. Sameer Jafri bowled his teasing seamers and picked up 2 very vital wickets. Adil and Nasir staged a comeback for International with a 66 run partnership. However, in came Ali Shafi and removed both of them in successive deliveries. Mushi Khan (3 wickets) and Jawaid Motiwala (1 wicket) wrapped up the tail, restricting International to 188 all out in 43 overs.
Pegasus started out in a shaky manner losing Sameer Jafri and their new captain Zeeshan Khamisani in quick succession to new ball bowler Asif. The Pegasus mainstay of Nazim Shirazi and Ali Shafi responded with calm and composure, building a steady 74 run partnership inching Pegasus towards their target of 189. Nazim notched his 1st 50 of the season. There was a slight tremble in the chase as Pegasus lost Nazim, Ali, Sunil and Jawaid to some good bowling by Bobby and Sohail. They took 2 wickets each. However, on the crease was the ever green, always dangerous, “blast from the past”, Haider Raza. He cut, drove, flicked with ease and managed to take his side home in the 43rd over. His 45 vital runs underlined the fact that he is still a force to be reckoned with.
High points of the game were the show of responsibility and strength by the Pegasus seniors and the support by the juniors. There were many missed chances during the game by both sides, but being the first game of this long 2008 season, both teams probably identified areas to work on going forward.
Umpiring was consistent and the game was played in good spirits. Good luck to both teams for the rest of the season.

University 232 for 7 in 45.0
United Cricket Club 157 for 10 in 39.0
After a lossing three early wickets, University recovered to make a match winning total of 232. United reply was hampered by University's good bowling and feilding (9 catches and 1 run out), but rallied to make 157 all out. Both teams played this game in good spirit, and umpire Tilak did a excellent job. Good luck to both teams.

Second Win
Inland Empire 2 151 for 10 in 36.4
Eagles 152 for 7 in 33.0
Inland Empire II won the toss on a beautiful day and decided to bat on a good wicket. They lost their first wicket at 22 and the second at 24 and would have been in serious trouble had it not been for a stubborn knock of 22 by Parvez and some lofty hits by Rajesh. After the fall of Parvez for 22 and later Rajesh for a well played 55, there were little partnerships that took the score to 151. Eagles would have done much better if they had held their catches and not bowled 23 wides. Six catches were floored and Eagles need to do better if they are to succeed this season.
In response, Eagles lost their first two wickets at 14, their third at 16 before a good partnership between Mohinder and Desmond that took the score to 60 when Desmond was out caught off Raju. Mohinder and Krishna then consolidated the inning before Mohinder was out for a well played 26. Krishna was then joined by Ken and they continued the rebuilding of the inning until Krishna lost his wicket after a stubborn knock of 17. Gary and Ken then saw Eagles home with a disciplined partnership. Gary was undefeated on 16 and Ken on 17.
Good second win for Eagles who showed character in a well played match which showed Inland Empire taking the fight to Eagles. Good luck Inland Empire II, thanks for a good game.
Mrunal's allround performance helps Vijayta make it four in a row.
Caribbean 1 206 for 10 in 44.5
Vijayta 208 for 5 in 40.1
Carribbean elected to bat after winning the toss and despite losing a couple early wickets had a long third wicket partnership which helped put 168 at the second drinks break. It looked as if they can put a huge total on the board but debutant Srinivasan gave Vijayta a bread which was helped by Anand Panchal with an outstanding catch at deep square leg. The rest was done by Hammad taking three wicket of consecutive overs and Mrunal took a couple of last two overs restricting Carribbean to a mere 206 on this batting friendly wicket. Vijayta lost Tarun early on an unlucky inner edge but again came the debutant Srinivasan who played some splending shots supported by young Ravi Timbawala who put a partnership of 70 runs for the second wicket. After Srinivasan departure Mrunal paired up with Ravi and took Vijayta to a safe 145 during second drinks break. Vijayta chase the total in the 40th over with Mrunal 54 not out.
Game was played with good spirit, Goodluck Carribbean for the rest of the season.
Pegasus Back with a Bang
Pegasus 258 for 7 in 45.0
Century Cricket Club 63 for 10 in 15.3
Pegasus returned to its winning ways after a horrible patch during the last 3 weeks. They were playing Century CC.
Winning the toss, the Pegasus captain, elected to bat on a sunny but breezy morning. The openers put up a 64 run stand before Faizan got out for a quick 25. Nazim and Ali Shafi continued steadily and put up an 85 run partnership before Nazim departed, not before he notched up yet another half century, scoring 76. Ali scored his 1st 50 of the season. Runs continued to flow until Pegasus lost Zeeshan, Ali and Elmore in quick succession. Haider & Jawaid closed the innings with a flurry of boundaries scoring 28 & 20 respectively. Malinda bowled a tight line for Century during the course of the inning and kept the Pegasus run rate under control. Maduka took 3 wickets while Roy took 2. Chaminda took 1 wicket and impressed the onlookers with his “Malinga styled” action, generating decent pace. Pegasus ended up scoring 258 at the end of 45 overs.
Century began their innings amid an onslaught by the Pegasus pacers. Elmore and Nitesh bowled with venom and purpose pegging back Century. Both bowlers ended up with 3 wickets a piece. Haider and Sameer wrapped up the tail with 2 & 1 wicket respectively. For Century, Roy scored 26 runs. Century were bundled out for 63 within 16 overs.
Pegasus needed this win after a bad patch. However, this victory should bring enough kick into the Pegasus side to go forward and challenge the big guns in the Premier Division. Good Luck to Century for the rest of the season.
